At the end of the ninth millennium, the small exploration vessel SEEKER V explodes while in orbit around a remote planet on the edge of the Andromeda galaxy. The ship's mission was to search for traces of a long-lost colonizing starship that vanished centuries before. Only two survivors, Commandant Dana Hilbert and Captain Susan Huston, manage to land safely in the dense forests of the northern continent. What they discover is a nightmare beyond their darkest fears.

The planet is inhabited by the descendants of the original colonists and genetically modified apes, who have evolved into the dominant species. These brutal apes rule with an iron fist, and the surviving humans are nothing more than pets—treated with cruelty, subjected to relentless abuse, and forced into servitude.

Back to Apeworld continues the harrowing story of Dana and Susan, once members of an elite class of intergalactic travelers, now reduced to the lowest levels of a savage Ape Society. Their high intelligence and genetic perfection mean nothing in this brutal world where they are stripped of their dignity and forced to serve their ape masters in every conceivable way. Punishments for disobedience are harsh, and their status as "pets" leaves them vulnerable to the most degrading treatment.
This dark tale explores the depths of human humiliation in a world where technology and civilization have been replaced by the savage rule of the apes.
